This zoomorphic vase was found in the Punic tomb of Tipasa. It probably dates from the 6th or 5th century BC This vase bears witness to part of the Carthaginian funeral rites. We know that the Carthaginians had recourse to burial as well as cremation and it is possible that the ashes of a deceased person were placed in this zoomorphic vase.
